Be sure to perform a test patch to check for any allergic reaction before applying the mentioned remedies generously on to your skin.

Turmeric Powder

First up on the list is turmeric powder. this fragrant and wonderful yellow-orangey powder is a host of curcumin, a compound that contains potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce excess production of melanin in your body, which, in turn, can prevent pigmentation from accessing the healing spots and darkening the scars. Applying a thick paste that is formed by mixing equal portions of turmeric powder and honey on to the troubled area can help reduce the appearance of discolouration and help the skin smooth and soothe itself without irritation. Simply leave the treatment on for 15 to 20 minutes, rub the dry paste on your skin to work in a gentle exfoliation process to remove any dead skin cells. Rinse through with cool water and hydrate with your daily skincare routine.

Baking Soda

Baking soda has recently been back in the spotlight in the talks of home cleaning hacks, together with a partner— white vinegar, that promises wonderful results in helping one clean their house. It is pretty much an all-purpose duo for everything and anything. If you need a safe cleaning agent for mopping your floor, mix baking soda and white vinegar to some water and you have it. A stubborn stain on your table top to get rid off? This magical duo is your answer. But how exactly can baking soda help in removing the scar on your skin? Well, baking soda has exfoliating properties that can help remove dead skin cells effortlessly. Alongside with its slight alkaline nature, it can restore the pH levels of your skin, thus helping you fend off future outbreaks of acne as well as aiding in the recovery of acne scars, without damaging your skin. All you have to do is to mix two parts water to one part baking soda into a paste and use it as a scrub on the affected area, thrice weekly. Rinse thoroughly with cool water and pat dry. Follow up with your skin care regime to hydrate your skin after.

Aloe Vera

Two key steps in every successful scar healing treatment are to moisturise and soothe the skin. Aloe vera is one ingredient that contains both of these mentioned properties and more. It contains an abundance of minerals that can help your skin reduce any appearance of redness, soothe swellings and also eliminate unwanted skin cells. On top of that, aloe vera is packed with antioxidants that are wonderful in keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay while its natural astringent removes excess oil that is produced by your skin.

To make things even better, all you have to do is just scrape the aloe off the leaf and lather it over your scar and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cold water after.

Coconut Oil

If you have not hopped on the coconut oil bandwagon yet, this may just be the reason for you to do so. Besides, there seem to be pretty much nothing that can stop coconut oil from being the part and parcel of benefiting one’s health and boosting a better appearance of hair, skin and nails. The rich omega fatty acids that it contains can penetrate and moisturise your skin and restore your skin’s glorious glow. So try using it as a moisturiser and dab a thin layer under your eyes, your lips and over the troubled skin. Make sure that you apply only to the areas that need extra care so as to steer clear of undesirable acne breakouts.

Onion Juice

Not the most fragrant treatment to try from this list, but an effective one is to apply onion extract to the scar. If you do not mind a little sting, the bioflavonoids of the extract can lighten the appearance of your acne scar in the matter of a few weeks, with daily application. A host of  cepalin and kaempferol, onion extract can also reduce inflammation, soreness and redness on your skin.

If you are ready to commit to this, all you will need to do is blitz a medium size onion and apply the juice with a q-tip to the affected area daily. Store the onion juice in an airtight container and pop it into the fridge for easy daily access. Good luck!
